A penpal for Hazel
I'm wondering if anyone out there has a 4-6 year old who would like a penpal in New Zealand? Hazel is desperate for mail and of course it being the day and age it is there isn't a lot of letter-writing going on! I have no idea if such a thing is still popular, but if anyone remembers being a kid and the thrill of getting a letter in the mail addressed to you personally, then let me know! Boy or girl wouldn't matter, and I'm not thinking anything more fancy than a couple letters* back and forth, throw in a pack of stickers or a postcard kind of deal. Anyways, drop me an email or leave a comment and maybe we can set something up for the sprogs :)
*Hazel's will be written by me at this point but there will be large printing and creative spelling in the near future I think.

Hiya, I've been following your blog for a few months now and love what you do. I've got a little girl who will be 4 in October. I know she's a bit younger than what you were requesting, but she loves to collect the mail and is overjoyed on the odd occassion that there's something there for her. She (and her mumma!) would be really keen for a pen pal- obviously at this stage, like you, I'd write her letters for her. If you're keen please feel free to drop me an email at jandkturnbull@bigpond.com and we can set something up.
ReplyDeleteMy middle daughter is 5 and she would love a penpal. When I was younger, I had a penpal from Australia and I still cherish those letters. In fact, all three of my girls would love to participate :o) There is nothing the my girls love more than to write things and decorate paper!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've already got some volunteers, but if you need another, my 5yo daughter would absolutely LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteApparently my children dropped the ball here didn't they :(
ReplyDeleteWe have been talking about it but never got around to doing it this should spur me into action and with any luck Hazel will have more pen pals than she knows what to do with!
My Veronica would love to!! She's 7, so she'd be able to write a basic sentence or two. You should also check out postcrossing.com. Not so much a penpal as a postcard exchange, but I used to do it and it was super fun.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you already have lots of takers, but if anyone flakes out, Matthew would LOVE to be a penpal!
ReplyDeleteAri + Mishi would love to be part of this. They are both super keen to get mail in the post (it's always for me). And they both enjoy writing and drawing and packaging up little things.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you already have a few takers - but the more the merrier perhaps?
i love this! i had a penpal from US for years and years when I was little. We then lost track of each other - then i randomly got an irish one and had her through my teens, we used to record cassette tapes and send them to each other. so much fun. we lost contact, then hello facebook... although we never write to each other even on there!
ReplyDeleteman talk about talking about myself! Go hazel! this could be sooooooo much fun for the both of you!
You might be looking for something further afield, but I have 2 little people here who love the letter writing game...though Cole's more a quick howdy, and Immy will talk your hind leg off! So we're keen if you haven't already been inundated!
